Origin 6.0 Reset has now arrived! IntroductionOrigin 5.0 (this current map) has lasted such a long time compared to all of the other resets it is unreal. As you all know, right now these maps (Red and Blue) are completely saturated with masses of loot which makes the server completely unplayable and no fun at all so it is time for a map reset. Due to both servers having reset only a month apart and we thought that it may be a little fair on the guys over at blue if they reset at the same time. The date that this will take place is the 6th of February at 10 PM UTC. When Belztim and I first created Origin, we did not design it to make maps last very long. The whole idea in the beginning was to release something that would get more players and grow quickly to give us an upper hand above most other factions servers out there. Origin was built to better suit the newer players and people who were not so experienced with factions itself therefore allowing us to reach out to those joining our server first. Consequently putting off those those more advanced factions players of which we have managed to accumulate today. Many of you guys are becoming bored of Origin incredibly fast because of the fact that it is just far too easy and not really a true factions server. Currently it is possible on the server to build a massive base, store all of your loot in there within just a couple of weeks and never have the fear of being raided again. Belztim and I feel that this is not how factions is meant to be, players are supposed to be challenged by the server and under constant threat to provide the best factions experience. Origin 6.0 plans to combat the major issues of the server being so easy, kicking it up a notch. It will allow for players to constantly have something to improve on or work for. This will likely become the longest standing Origin has ever had; it would be a good idea to join early and to not bother waiting for the next map as that will not come around for quite some time. New Features20,000 x 20,000 Map Origins map as it stands has an area of 32,000 x 32,000 blocks (16,000 block radius) which we feel is far too large. Raids are very difficult to come across on a map so large, especially due to the fact that the two servers are limited to only 300 players each. A map with the radius of 10,000 blocks will be exactly 2.56 times smaller and should be quite a lot easier to track down bases for your raids. Flat Bedrock Tunnel cannoning is made much more difficult when the attacks are based very low down as the tnt could easily clip. It is a small change, but something that can aid cannoneers and is something which promotes reason to build stronger bases. No More Mineshafts Mineshafts are honestly one of the worst things out there in the map for Origins economy currently. They throw in countless amounts of spawners into the server which causes huge issues during the beginning of the map, downgrading the rarity of spawners. Normal dungeons and strongholds will still stay implemented. Lighting Fixes While default Mojang lighting generation is okay for the most part, there have been various fixes implemented. The first main lighting fix implemented was made to prevent liquids causing masses of lighting updates each time they were to flow or drain. As for the second, I have addressed the majority of malformed lighting whilst in the generation. With these bugs patched, the server should run a lot smoother in general and could possibly be a fix to many people’s FPS issues. The Economy For this map, the economy has been carefully designed to ensure the map lasts as long as possible without making people so bored. Crop and mob farming are still profitable, but have been greatly nerfed. Using the command to sell items will sell them for less than you would normally get via the main shop to make massive farms less profitable than they normally should (Unless you are not being lazy). View the new and improved economy here. World Border The new world border has now been changed around to prevent people backing up towards the outer edge of the map. This is an incredibly unfair advantage that players who start the map in the very beginning will get which makes building bases much easier than it should be. Instead the world border will be claimed by warzone, then a set of buffer claims. KoTH Loot Loot from all the KoTHs are a little odd right now, super gold apples will be granted quite frequently while other lower items such as diamonds and money will not be as frequent. I will be writing up a new set of loot tables to make the loot received much better than its current state. Bedrock Before you all start complaining about this, please read the entire section. The idea to add this was from Belztim and seemed quite interesting. Normally you would see tons of bedrock being thrown around on OP factions servers, there bedrock means nothing and quite frankly does not seem like a good idea at all to introduce. However we have come up with an idea which people may like the sound of. There needs to be some kind of new “bragging rights” item on the map that people need to work extremely hard to receive to make the economy more competitive. Considering we are removing the “unraidable vaults” feature, we thought it would be a good idea to add a way people can better protect their very valuable loot. Bedrock will be sold at the shop for $100,000 per piece, and will take 100 shots of TnT to break through with a 0% drop chance. It will not be possible to destroy the bedrock with any pickaxe, and the bedrock leading to the void will not be breakable. Good luck to those attempting to build an entire base out of it! Obsidian Obsidian is now being changed so you have to hybrid cannon it, dry shotting is no longer allowed as obsidian bases right now are completely useless. It will take 3 shots to hybrid cannon a piece of obsidian. Also the blast radius has been dropped from 3 to 2. The Nether Yes, this time we are adding the nether map back into the server with a 4,000 x 4,000 block area (Or 2,000 block radius). The only way to enter the nether would be via a portal that you have made on the over world map. This means nether raiding will become a thing so claim for your base in the nether as well as the over world! Use this tool to check the coordinates you need claimed 20 Chunk Buffer Limit As it stands now, the chunk buffer limit is at 25. By many requests, we will be decreasing this down to a max chunk buffer of 20. This should make raiding bases a little easier and should encourage people to work on their base more than just sit it out with their claims.
